Premier League leaders Liverpool keep their 100% start to the season with another attacking display that was dominant and withdrew an early scare to sweep past Newcastle.
Sadio Mane was their go-to guy, scoring twice in the first half after Jetro Willems’ primary target for Newcastle had given Steve Bruce’s side a shock lead.
Mohamed Salah added a third with the member of Liverpool’s attacking trinity Roberto Firmino providing two brilliant assists and hammering the show with a performance in the seat.
The Reds have won 14 league matches in a row at a run that stretches back to a draw at Everton in March – that the joint third-best winning run in English top-flight history – and move five points clear on top, together with second-placed Manchester City playing at the night game.
Newcastle never jeopardized to build in their surprise lead – which came with their only shot – and could not get near the champions for periods of a one-sided game.
They remain a stage above the bottom three, in place.
The spotlight was on Mane and Salah at Burnley time out following their disagreement.
