Another young lineman is holding out from mandatory minicamp.
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reports that Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones isn’t present with the team now as minicamp opens, and isn’t anticipated to attend the three-day session, per sources advised of the situation.

Per Rapoport, contract discussions between the Chiefs and the star speech have stalled, leading to the holdout.
Jones skipped the voluntary portions of offseason workouts hoping for a new deal all. Without one, the mandatory portion’ll bypass as well. Just like players under contract, Jones is subject to penalties of $88,650 for mandatory minicamp, per the CBA. Fines are in the group’s discretion.
A 2016 second-round pick, Jones is set to make just $1.2 million in base salary. As one of the finest interior linemen in the NFL, he underpaid. The 24-year-old is coming off a 15.5-sack year for a game-wrecker on the interior. He has generated 24 sacks in his first three seasons.
Jones could be an vibrating force in 2019 with the Chiefs moving to a 4-3 front under defensive coordinator Steve Spagnulolo. First, K.C. must repay his contract situation.
