New Zealand back-row ahead Luke Jacobson has been ruled out of the World Cup due to concussion.
Jacobson played against Tonga a week and went with the group for the tournament in Japan, but the All Blacks said the 22-year-old had endured a”delayed onset of concussion”.
New Zealand Coach Steve Hansen reported the player showed symptoms this past week.
Shannon Frizell will, replaces jacobson, who has two caps.
“After discussing this newest episode with Luke, as well as our health care staff, the choice was made to, regrettably, draw him from the tournament,” Hansen told the All Blacks web site.
“We all felt the best thing for him to do is to take a rest from rugby until he is symptom-free and ready to return.”
