Sarah Rose Summers of Nebraska crowned her successor Cheslie Kryst of North Carolina at the end of the event. Kryst will represent the United States . The 2019 contest served as the 2nd consecutive time that the pageant was held concurrently with the Miss Teen USA competition.

On March 28, 2019, the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) confirmed that the pageant will be held on May 2 at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada, this was the ninth time Nevada hosting the pageant instead of Las Vegas, that was hosted earlier. After the statement of Reno being selected as the competitor’s host city, it appeared that the MUO were originally considering holding the contest in Honolulu, Hawaii. The plan had been rejected by Hawaiian officials and jumped to Reno by the MUO after the Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA) reported that they would be Not Able to secure the funds to sponsor the contest that the MUO had asked, adding that they’d be interested in hosting the 2020 contest
